An early trip into town to obtain parts to replace a ‘dead’ front light on the van proved to be rather fruitless. The material that I needed brought a very ‘uh??!’ response from most of the hardware staff. The town seemed to be populated with many aboriginal folk just wandering aimlessly along the few city streets. The police seemed fairly active checking on sly-grogging it seemed to us and there were a number of people waiting outside the courthouse. We managed to acquire the Baygon spray can with the little nozzle as well as the ant rid kit to attack the latest infestation. At least something had gone right.
We popped in to the bakery to buy a cheesecake slice for Rob in thanks for his expertise in getting the new light fitting up and working. Back to camp to finish some chores in the heat before the four of us bundling into the ute to return to town for lunch. As Mothers’ Day is on Sunday we decided to celebrate a bit early as Rob and Margaret were departing early on Thursday morning for the border and on to Perth. The lunch was very nice and we all enjoyed the view over the waterfront while we ate. We re-checked the materials needed for the light and Rob located the best stuff for the job, so that could now be completed.
The repairs completed on the light fitting finished we took things fairly lightly for the hot afternoon, however, Mary always has to find something to do and managed a few tidy-up jobs before the big wash tomorrow to get us through to WA next week. The forecast indicated rain so that chore was necessary.
Rob put on his barista hat and provided afternoon coffee that was enjoyed in the shade of their bus. We had not long finished a leisurely tea break when we spied Kevin Leonard walking around the camp sites checking out which site suited their nice rig. Shortly after they moved in Elaine came to visit briefly so a lovely reunion took place.
The continuing battle to beat the pants off the ants continued as experience shows that we use all means to attack the little blighters on a continuing basis. Time consuming but essential!
No TV so tried internet but that was pointless at our site so nothing but a good read for me and a puzzle for Mary for the evening. I will try another upload for photos before we lose internet for several days this week.
