Gin Gin Rest Area to Gunalda Rest Area
Another nice morning (but, like the last night at Calliope) it was much cooler to start the day. On the off-chance that a local store may have the desired product we stopped briefly to find that they had the right product but not in the must-have colour. Driving further south we enjoyed the now mandatory pitching and yawing of the ‘highway’ until we located the Gunalda Rest Area situated on a ridge beside the road but with great views out across paddocks and bush. We grabbed exactly the same site as we had previously used as it was quieter, had a good view and was very level and handy to the toilet block. Just in time as other vehicles also made a stop here and some obviously planned on staying overnight too.
I enjoyed a peaceful afternoon with some kingfishers using a dead tree branch as a lookout for afternoon feeding time interspersed with a loud territory call from time to time.
Mary checked the internet for the next Crazy Clark shop, this time in nearby Gympie. Yes, it showed a shop there, so to ensure peace and harmony she Skype phoned and checked that the place was actually inhabited with human beings who sold the required product.
Good mobile and internet coverage although some way from any town. Such is life in Australia!
